Meet the Naturopath

Dr. Alana Van Putten-Laguerre received her doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, AZ and has maintained active licensure for approximately eighteen years. She holds a BS in Biochemistry from the Oakwood University in Huntsville, AL. She is also a certified physician assistant (PA-C) and practiced for over seven years in both the Internal Medicine and Urgent Care settings. She obtained her Masters of Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Towson University in Towson, Maryland. She has served as a guest lecturer on alternative medicine for the graduate physician assistant certification program at the Community College of Baltimore. Dr. VP-Laguerre worked as a fitness trainer for two years with Bodies Online Personal Training, working closely with women who wanted to transform their lives through physical fitness. The unique blend of her naturopathic and conventional backgrounds has been an asset in her medical and consulting career. It has given her a fuller understanding of how to safely integrate these distinct fields of medicine when necessary.
Her appreciation for nature was cultivated from a very young age growing up on the beautiful island of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. She had the distinct pleasure of practicing as a naturopath in her home before moving back to the mainland to continue her education.
Through the consulting services of Health Is Living LLC, she is able to achieve one of her favorite naturopathic principles, Physician as Teacher.” Her job is to journey with her clients on their road to improved health and educate them on how and why it is important for them to take care of their bodies. Our bodies are not our own to do with as we please. We are stewards of this great gift God has given us. Let us truly live in health.
“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
